Developmental Pathways (DP) is honored to present Dr. Michaela McDonnell, departing board member, with the Developmental Pathways Board of Directors Lifetime Achievement Award. This award celebrates a board member whose lifelong commitment has meaningfully supported people with disabilities through DP and the wider community.
Dr. McDonnell served three full terms on the board from 2016 to 2025, including leadership roles as Board President, Vice President, and a member of the board’s Mill Levy and Finance Committees. Throughout her tenure, she was a passionate advocate for individuals and families, showing unwavering support for DP’s teams — attending events, encouraging staff, and even speaking at our 60th Anniversary Celebration.
A Colorado resident for nearly 40 years, Dr. McDonnell is a recently retired Board-Certified Dermatologist who operated a private practice in Lakewood since 1988. She has been an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Academy of Dermatology and the Colorado Dermatologic Society, where she previously served as President. She is the proud parent of six children, including a son who receives support from DP.
The board was proud to honor Dr. McDonnell for her extraordinary service and lifelong dedication to supporting people with disabilities.
“Dr. McDonnell’s leadership and commitment to our board and community have served as an inspiration to myself and many others,” said Matt VanAuken, CEO and Executive Director of DP. “As both a parent and a champion for our community, she has brought unique insight, thoughtful guidance, and invaluable support throughout her nine years of service. Her impact will be felt for years to come.”
We extend our deepest appreciation to Dr. McDonnell for her remarkable contributions and lasting impact. We wish her the best in her next chapter!
