What Is Respite?
Respite provides a break for primary caregivers. Caregivers often face added stress as a result of balancing the needs of their loved one with a developmental disability/delay, the needs of other family members, and the stressors of everyday life. Respite allows caregivers to rest, recharge, and balance those stressors and continue to provide complete care.
Our goals are to build trusting relationships between caregivers and respite providers, to support current and potential providers’ capacity to increase services, and to simplify the process of finding respite.

Respite Resources
This website is dedicated to Respite information for Colorado residents and provides a wealth of information to caregivers who care for individuals of all ages and with all types of disabilities. The “Respite Locator” can be used to provide respite options more specific to your location.
The Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP)
Provides childcare assistance to families who are working, searching for employment, or are in training, and families who are enrolled in the Colorado Works program and need childcare services to support their efforts toward self-sufficiency.
Free/Low-Cost Respite Options
All-Stars Activ8 Sports
A monthly faith-based respite program for families and caretakers with children who have special needs. $10 registration fee.
Provides a few hours of free respite to children from one to 12 years old, one Friday night per month in a church located in Parker, as well as a church in Littleton.
On the first Friday night of each month, trained volunteers provide an evening of individualized care and fun for children with special needs and their siblings, ages one month through 12 years, at the Fisher Early Learning Center on the University of Denver campus.
