If voters with disabilities cast ballots at the same rate as voters without disabilities, roughly 2 million more voices would help shape our democracy.
At Developmental Pathways (DP), we’re committed to helping individuals with disabilities fully participate in their communities, including voting. Below you’ll find information and resources to support Colorado voters with disabilities in the 2026 election.
Your Right to Vote
In Colorado, having a guardian or other legal decision-maker does not affect your right to vote. If you’re 18 years old or older and meet Colorado’s basic eligibility requirements, you can vote — and make your own ballot choices. See the Colorado Secretary of State’s eligibility details and Voters with Disabilities FAQ to learn more.
Disability Justice Colorado, the state’s Protection & Advocacy System, can help you understand your voting rights, learn about accessible voting options, or file a complaint if your rights are violated.
Make a Plan to Vote
Print our My Voting Plan sheet to help you get ready!
- Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Register and vote in person until 7:00 p.m.
- Ballots Mailed: Sent to every active registered voter starting in early October (no later than 18 days before Election Day).
- Early In-Person Voting: Begins October 19, 2026, at Voter Service and Polling Centers (VSPCs), open through Election Day.
- Registration Deadline (to receive a mail ballot): Monday, October 26, 2026. You can still register and vote in person after this date.
- Same-Day Registration: Available through Election Day at a VSPC.
Every VSPC is required to be accessible, and there are multiple ways to vote and return your ballot:
- In-Person Voting: Wait times may vary, so plan ahead. Find your polling place at your county’s election website or at GoVoteColorado.gov
- Electronic Voting: Voters with disabilities may be eligible to vote online using assistive technology. Visit the Accessible Voting section on the Colorado Secretary of State’s website for more info.
- Mail-In Ballots: All registered voters in Colorado receive a mail-in ballot. You can vote by mailing it with at least one stamp or by using a Ballot Drop Box.
- Ballot Drop Boxes: Colorado has over 350 secure drop boxes, many with drive-up access. They’re monitored 24/7 and emptied by bipartisan teams. Find one near you at GoVoteColorado.gov
Track your ballot online via the Secretary of State’s BallotTrax tool.
Understanding Your Ballot
Knowing what’s on your ballot matters as much as showing up. Many organizations publish ballot guides — some nonpartisan, some not. Choose trusted, transparent sources that reflect your own values.
