Holiday Outreach Program and Denver 7 News

Yesterday, Channel 7 News ran a story about Developmental Pathways Holiday Outreach Program. They discussed an unfortunate mistake that we immediately worked diligently to rectify. We would like to take a moment to share the whole story with our staff, our supporters, and most importantly, the individuals and families we support.

Each year, our Holiday Outreach Program delivers hundreds of gifts to families in need that are supported by Developmental Pathways. Recipients are given the opportunity to tell Pathways’ donors exactly what they want for Christmas. Once requests are received, our staff, community partners, and local businesses generously donate personalized items so that each person receives something they love! Approximately 700 people received gifts this year.

Last week, gifts meant for one of our families in need were mistakenly delivered to another family with the same name. We felt terribly about the gifts that were mistakenly delivered. In fact, we now felt an equal obligation to both families, so we took action to gather replacement gifts specifically for the family we mistakenly delivered the gifts to. We provided the family an additional 200 dollars in gift cards to help ensure that they also have a wonderful holiday.

We think it is important to share that we took this action well before 7 News was involved.

Our Holiday Outreach Program is meant to bring holiday joy to families, and we hope that you will continue to support Developmental Pathways and individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

We wish you the happiest of holiday seasons, just as our donors have helped to make the happiest of holiday seasons possible to many families through the Holiday Outreach Program.
