About the Performance: The Zikr Dance Ensemble – led by nationally acclaimed choreographer David Taylor – fuses transcendent rituals from ancient cultures with contemporary dance/theatre realizations. Artistically stimulating, as well as intellectually captivating, Zikr\’s live performances are complemented by stunning visual effects and projections, creating multimedia experiences that have mesmerized audiences.
Zikr Dance Ensemble returns to the Wildcat Auditorium with highlights from \”Portals,\” the latest work by critically acclaimed choreographer and Zikr Artistic Director David Taylor. \”Portals\” explores the hidden realms of dance ritual in a mosaic of forms of atonement and transcendence throughout world history with stunning masks and visual art and breathtaking costumes and music. Also on the program will be the company\’s signature work and audience favorite, \”In Your Eyes.”
