Learn what’s on the Ballot
Written by Kim Tenure, Associate Director of I/DD Policy
Do you feel like you don’t know enough about the issues in our state to vote? You’re one of many, if so. There may be other obstacles to voting depending on who you are; we’ll talk more about those in a future blog post. For now, we at Developmental Pathways want to empower you to know the facts about the 2020 Colorado ballot issues so that you can make the best choice for you.
We have created a handy, helpful Ballot Guide to walk you through all of the propositions on the ballot for the November general election. The purpose is to provide voters like you with an impartial analysis of each question on the ballot.
Each year, Colorado makes a Blue Book available in English and Spanish to voters across Colorado. It provides a detailed overview of the statewide ballot measures you’ll be voting on. Many of you may have already received your Blue Book in the mail.
The Blue Book is full of great information, but it can be complicated. To make things less complicated, we’ve taken many of the arguments from the Colorado Blue Book and simplified them in our Ballot Guide. We’ve also provided conversation starters for you to talk through some of the issues.
Our goal is to empower you, so that you can vote on what you care about and make your voice heard.
While we think our guide is a great tool, we want to make sure you know about the many resources out there to help you understand the ballot. Check out some of these other guides:
We are also partnering with The Arc Arapahoe & Douglas Counties and Disability Law Colorado to host weekly conversations about voting. If you have questions about what’s on the ballot, how to vote, or any other concerns about the voting process, we’d encourage you to join us in these conversations.
Voting may seem like a lot of work, but it’s an important right, responsibility, and privilege. Voting is one important way that people with disabilities can participate and shape their communities.
